Oscar Fashion Recap

So, who wins best dressed this year?

I must admit that I was a little underwhelmed with this year's sartorial choices. There was not big show-stopper nor any major faux-pas.

Cate Blanchett's statuesque Givenchy haute Couture gown wins the crown. Simply breathtaking, this dress stands above all. If there's anything consistent with Ms. Blanchett's style it is that its never conventionnal. One of the bolder choices on the red carpet this year, this dress stands out with its surprising colour-mix (did I tell you that yellow is my favorite colour?), structured beading and vaporous pleats. I also like that Cate Blanchett is not afraid to take risks, but at the same time, rarely misses.

Gwyneth comes in close second in this gold lamé Calvin Klein number. I love everything about that look: the dress, the hair, the accessories. The ensemble emanates a sexy beach girl vibe that I truly enjoyed. I think GOOP looks like the cool girl of the party.

Mila Kunis also stood out in this lavender lace dress from Elie Saab Couture. This dress is truly every girl's dream... and her hair and makeup complimented nicely her delicate style.

I'm also awarding a gold star to Michelle William's sparkly beaded Chanel gown which really compliments her petite frame. She looked like a fairy (in a good way!).

I won't select a "worst dressed" but rather a "most boring". Natalie Portman's Rodarte was so blah... and with those awful earrings, it really looked as if she had it tailored right from the curtains of Donald Trump's ostentatiously decorated 5th avenue penthouse. Natalie, next time please give a call to CZJ for hints on pregnant Oscar winner style.

UPDATE: Word is that Natalie Portman was originally supposed to wear Dior as she is the new face of the French couture house. She decided to switch dresses at the last minute in reaction to the John Galliano scandal. So Natalie gets a free pass this year. That being said, I'd be curious to see what her first choice was... but we'll probably never know.

What did you think of this year's Oscar fashion?

The Halloween Party ( oopsie the Grammys)

Are they out of there minds ? Where is the fashion police ? oohhh let me see Miss Kelly is there and she look like she is going to an Easter party...

Take a look at the looks :

Look at the Grammys

The big winners are the guys... ( for instance Mumford and sons), cute...

Miranda Lambert is wearing the Calvin Klein dress I wanted my mom to make me for my prom in 1998 (out of a pattern bought at Bouclair)...

It's the crisis in California and we can feel (see/wear) it !

We danced to the beat...

Swedish pop sensation Robyn is currently touring North America and recently played in Montreal to a sold out Metropolis.

I attended the event (along with probably every single gay person in Montreal) and the crowd was on fire, singing along to every song.

Robyn's latest album, Body Talk, is a great collection of pop music gems such as Grammy nominated dance-track "Dancing on my Own". It's a shame that she doesn't get much radio airplay in North America. I strongly recommend you to check her out if she comes to your town.

In the meantime, here's "Hang with Me", a song that I had on repeat in my iPod throughout last summer.

Montreal Fashion Week F/W 2011 - Insider Edition

I had the pleasure last Thursday to attend Montreal Fashion Week at Marché Bonsecours in Montreal. Since I managed to score last minute tickets (thanks Marjorie!), I could not attend the sold out shows of headliners Marie St-Pierre and Barilà, but had a great time nonetheless watching the hard work of up and coming designers.

P&G makeup artists were readily available for touch ups or even a makeover. Attached is yours truly minutes after getting out of the makeup chair.

Although Montreal Fashion Week is presented on a much much smaller scale than New York's, the event is rather crowded and may ressemble a stampede during the headlining shows.

Here's a creative display using real models mimicking mannequins that could be viewed in the cocktail area, between shows.

I'm attaching a video of newcomer Melissa Nepton's collection - an event that had the whole city buzzing as soon as the first model walked down the runway.

After a couple of nights of Pre-Grammy's parties, it is tonight the Official Grammy Award night. Since we already know pretty much who will be the winners the secret of Lady Gaga outfit is well kept...

Lindsay moving to Venice...

Today, I went to the Whaler on Washington blv to watch the big game. I was supposed to go to XIV in Hollywood but Venice has been screaming my name since I first got here in July 2008. I love the place and apparently this is something I have in common with my dear twin...

Here's some of my best spots right on the sand:

The groundwork coffee company for their so delicious soy latte:

Right next door, you can find THE best grilled cheese ever ( only 4$) AND the lady remember your name...Zelda's Corner

Watching games at the Whaler. Easiest spot to make friends and  an amazing view on the sunsets :

Why the Beanie ?

I totally understand that the guys in my hometown wear beanies... Our ancestor are the first who wore the ''tuque'' which is now called a ''beanie'', furthermore it's freaking freezing...

Here's a pic for the sceptic in you:

After that I only remember the grunge in early 90's wearing beanies .. there is a missing link ...

Whatsoever, the point is why LA guys wear beanies ??? It's always hot and sunny ..To hide a early baldness ? By laziness or not show there dirty hair ?
