BLACK FRIDAY COUNTDOWN

How to survive Black Friday ?

1.MAP IT !

Parking will be crazy and store crowded and messy in no time so you have to get there EARLY. Make sure to look at the opening hours since store will open way earlier than usual. Here is my Melrose/Hollywood Map.

=> Melrose avenue : only a "no tax" day in most of the little boutiques so don't spend too much time there => UO Melrose/Fairfax: usually they have HUGE discounts in the basement => THE GROVE (down Fairfax) : Anthropology, BBW, Zara and Victoria's Secret... => BEVERLY CENTER.

2.WHAT TO WEAR
You won't be able to try on, unless you want to wait for 2 hours in line. Wear leggings and a white tank top so you can pretty much try on everything. You will need a big comfy bag to cary all this. My best bet:

3. CASH OR CREDIT ?
Bring both ! Since there is always some kind of system breakdown on black friday.

4. HOLD IT : go to the Beverly Center the day before and put an hold on what you want. They know in advance the discounted price. On black friday you can just drop by and pick it up. No stress.

5. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT : Do your little scavenger hunt the week before so you know exactly what to look for.  Plus you can try on without having to wait in the humongous line.

6. INTERNET: ok so they don't have your size anymore ? No problem, most internet website have the same discount & you can start shopping at 12:01am ;)

Hats off!

I've been in total denial lately about the inevitable: Winter is coming.

We've had the best fall weather so far, but Montreal meteological conditions are so unpredictable that who knows - I could wake up to 7 inches of snow tomorrow.

So no need to wait further, I'll need so warm clothes to cover up soon enough.

Thankfully, ASOS has plenty of toques, headbands, scarves and gloves to keep me warm over the cold winter months. So much that I don't know what to order! What should I pick?

Headgear
I'm glad that the turban trend from last spring has evolved to now include winter options. Check out these great headbands and turbans.

Scarves and Snoods
I'm also torn between regular scarves and practical snoods.

Gloves
These two pairs of gloves are great options: one casual and one dressier.

Forget it - I'm ordering everything!

Martha Marcy May... Mccc???

I really like Nylon Magazine because:
- their looks are easily adaptable to everyday life
- they mix both high and low end pieces creatively
- their editorials are totally my style... so much that I often see clothes/accessories that I already own depicted in their pages.

Their October issue, fronted by new Hollywood It-girl Elizabeth Olsen promoting her breakthrough leading role in indie flick "Martha Marcy May Marlene", is no exception.

I am absolutely in love with the Chanel tweed jacket worn by Ms. Olsen on the cover. If I had a few thousand dollars to toss on such an item, that would be it. This piece is timeless and so versatile.

But most importantly, I was delighted to see that one of the few purchases that I've made so far for Fall 2011 has made it to their pages. Elizabeth is wearing the Brixton "Kat" felt hat, which I bought a few weeks ago at Unicorn Boutique in the exact same colour. Have I found my style twin?

Nylon Cover for October 2011 + Editorial that I like so much, I'm thinking of getting gray leopard print jeans...

The perfect hat for Fall!

Desperately Seeking Sleeveless Denim Jackets

So, I've been reading everywhere that the 90's grunge look is back (actually, it has been in back for a while now)...

However, sleveless denim jackets are NOWHERE TO BE FOUND.
Where are they??????

I've been searching the web for them over the past couple of weeks (ok, months...) and it seems that no respectable label has gotten the memo on how awesome they are.
So please, lay off the chockers (yes, they're back... apparently... but more on that later) and BRING BACK SLEEVELESS DENIM JACKETS!!

I've searched through eBay and only 2 jackets managed to make the cut (only 2 out of the WHOLE eBay store!!!)

This 7 for all Mankind vest.

And this vintage Levi's piece.

I think it's time to quote Andre Leon Talley : "IT'S A FAMINE OF FASHION"

So I'm off to my neighbourhood Salvation Army store. Will probably have to resort to Plan B and make my own.

Until then, I'm totally jealous of Rihanna, who found a great one.

Second Skin

Sorry for having been out of the loop for a while... I can't believe that summer went by so fast. But this means that I get to go shopping for a new Fall wardrobe!

Topping my wishlist are...

This PERFECT studded black leather jacket from Mackage.
I've been trying to get my hands on the perfect leather jacket but none of the designs from this season have caught my eye. This beauty from last season is what dreams are made of and 50% off. Ka-Ching!

Animal print wedge booties from Kelsi Dagger
Anyone who knows me is aware of my infatuation for leopard print garments. I must have been an African Queen in another life. These booties from Nasty Gal will be a great asset to survive the concrete jungle.
